Opportunity study for a biomass conversion project in Mingan

Norda Stelo was responsible for conducting an opportunity study to identify renewable energy projects in Mingan. The study addressed five renewable energy sources:

  • Hydro
  • Wind
  • Tidal stream
  • Solar
  • Biomass

Issues associated with operating renewable energy sites were identified, and an analysis of government incentives was conducted. In addition, a detailed analysis of projects implemented in the past was produced to identify the conditions for success in the northeastern coastal context. And lastly, potential sites were examined using various key parameters.

In light of the results, biomass supply opportunities were reconsidered, and the mill’s capacity was revised to take advantage of this niche market’s true potential.
